Service Network: The North East in 2030

09 February 2010

09/02/10 With the rising and ageing population, the issue of global warming, and ever advancing technology, what will business in the North East look like in 20 years time?

Cost: FREE

Will there still be a state retirement age? Will everyone be home-based workers rather than commuting to city centre offices? Will high speed transport links have reduced the journey time to London?

One North East and the Association of North East Councils would like to work with Service Network to gather private sector business views on the threats and opportunities facing the North East in the next 20 years. This will inform the development of the new Regional Strategy.

At Service Network we believe that this is an excellent opportunity for the region’s businesses to voice their opinions and concerns on what the region, the business community, and the world of work will look like in 2030, and what needs to be done now to deliver the future vision.

Attendees will be asked in advance of the workshop to consider and formulate their views on the key threats and/or opportunities impacting on the North East region and why. This will allow for a creative and constructive session that will leave participants with a fuller picture of the issues which may affect our region over the next 20 years.

We anticipate the whole event will be a useful networking opportunity, enabling participants to learn from each others’ perspectives.
