7 February 2012 | 8:30am - 10:30am
Location: Copthorne Hotel, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3RT View Map
Service Network is delighted to have secured Tom Smyth, BIS's principal representative in the region, as our keynote speaker to share with members Government's emerging plans and policies, and to hear your views on how this activity can be informed and driven by private sector input.
Tom, Deputy Head - Yorkshire Humber and the North East, at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, will update us on:
- The national economic picture
- Key features and actions affecting growth in the economy
- The new economic development infrastructure in the region, including Local Economic Partnerships and their role
- Key opportunities for businesses in the North East to work with Government including Regional Growth Fund, Supply Chain Initiative and Offshore Renewables
Tom is then keen to hear from members about how these plans will impact - both positively and negatively - on the region's businesses. Dan Brophy, Chief Executive of Entrust, will lead discussions to:
- Get an understanding of real business constraints and opportunities
- Articulate how the changes to the economic development landscape are affecting the business community; and
- Hear members' priorities for how Government could support private sector growth and employment more effectively.
This will be a lively debate where everyone will have a chance to have their say - for the good of the region and for the good of the service sector in the region.
Demand for places at this event is expected to be high and non-member places are restricted so please book early.
