Neil Warwick

Partner, Dickinson Dees (observer)

Neil Warwick is a Partner at Dickinson Dees LLP, the largest independent law firm in the North of England and one of the top 50 law firms in the UK. Neil joined Dickinson Dees in 1991 as a trainee solicitor. He was made a partner in 2001 and from 2001 until 2005 was the Marketing and Communications Partner for the firm.

During his time at Dickinson Dees, Neil has been seconded to other organisations three times: in 1992 to the associated Brussels office of Dickinson Dees; in 1994 – 1995 he was the first in-house lawyer at the Northern Development Company (the predecessor organisation to One NorthEast) – the first time an RDA had an in-house lawyer; in 1997–1998 he was one of the in-house team at Enron Teesside Operations Limited at Wilton. In 1998 Neil was given responsibility for Dickinson Dees’ associated Brussels office as well as becoming Head of EU and Competition at the firm. In 2006 he was asked to assume responsibility for Kudos, the team which provides legal services to entrepreneurial businesses. In 2007 he was voted onto the Management Board of Dickinson Dees.

Neil specialises in EU and UK competition law (primarily contentious), including State aid. He has helped create a number of the Access to Finance funds and has also appeared before the Office of Fair Trading, Competition Commission, European Commission and the High Court on a number of leading cases.

Neil is the Chair of Entrust’s Membership Organisation, Service Network, an organisation that represents knowledge intensive business services in the North of England. The membership comprises largely of professional services such as banks, accountants, lawyers, architects, surveyors, as well human resources, marketing and market research. The organisation provides innovative networking services for its members and acts as a voice for the sector within the Region.

As well as Chairing Service Network, Neil is a non-executive of a number of businesses.
