The Graduates for Business Programme is dedicated to providing a recruitment service to help both recent graduates and small businesses within the North East. The GFB team work with small businesses to find the ideal candidate for their needs, and will support both the company and the graduate throughout the recruitment process.

Graduates and students are the life-blood of the region and it is our aim to ensure there is an increasing flow of this very precious commodity into North East businesses.

Entrust works in partnership with universities and other enterprise agencies to place graduates in companies throughout the region. By way of example, in 2006/2007 we helped place 211 graduates, with 90% of these leading to permanent positions.
 
 
Graduates can offer a wealth of knowledge and, in many cases, a refreshing alternative view, especially when it comes to areas like design, accountancy and marketing. On a more practical level, they help free-up vital time for small businesses to focus on development and growth. At the same time, you also get the satisfaction of knowing that the experience the individuals’ gain of successfully managing a project will build their confidence and make them even more useful to you.

Today, Graduate Business Solutions is more focused than ever before. Thanks to the continuing support of One NorthEast, we have developed an interactive website which has resulted in graduate applications increasing three-fold in just 12 months.
 
 
 
Our aim is to continue providing solutions and adding value. By working closely with universities and other partners we have identified mechanisms to address the skills gap that exists in the region and ensure the retention of high-level skills creates a more competitive and sustainable SME base in the region.

Shell Step is a national programme dedicated to providing undergraduates with valuable project based work experience in small and medium sized businesses.

Every year over 1000 second and penultimate year undergraduates are placed nationally, from all academic disciplines, with businesses to deliver real working projects. The placement runs for eight weeks during the summer break and can be in any industry sector.

Companies have used the programme to investigate new services, research and develop new products, launch ecommerce websites, build bespoke software, streamline processes and deliver benefits throughout their organisations. 

Undergraduates can bring new skills and focused enthusiasm to a business, to help kick-start or manage development ideas - giving your business fast and affordable 'access to knowledge'.
