Home working presents a solution for businesses looking to maximise customer relations whilst providing flexible, cost efficient working conditions that can mobilise a diverse workforce.
Many businesses are turning to home working to reduce overheads whilst maximising productivity and staff retention, reducing environmental impact, and for many businesses, addressing the often negative customer reaction to offshoring.
Home working has the ability to assist businesses in providing outstanding customer care, but for many the initial cost implications cannot be overlooked.
The Home Working Fund is a new One North East pilot aims to enable companies to create new jobs for home workers in the region.
The innovative £1.1 million Fund aims to help organisations overcome the initial cost barrier of implementing a home working operation.
The Fund is open to any appropriate businesses in the region and will provide direct financial support, up to a maximum of £3,000* per FTE home worker. This comprises of up to £2,000 for skills development and up to £1,000 towards capital equipment.* The capital equipment supported will be specific computer hardware, software and associated telephony.
A total of 360 new jobs are due to be created using the Home Working Fund which will run for two years to the end of September 2011.
This new Fund will operate on a “first come first served” basis. Interested parties are encouraged to register interest early to avoid disappointment.
The Home Working Fund is supported through Train to Gain, part of Solutions for Business, the Government’s package of publicly funded support products offering help to companies to start, grow and succeed. Solutions for Business makes it easier for businesses to get the advice and assistance that they need.
